The Pixel 10 launched in 2025 at the same UK launch price as the Pixel 9 (£799). They look very similar, but the 10 brings a change you'll notice in your photos: a 5x telephoto on the base model, which used to be Pro-only.
What they have in common
- 6.3" 120 Hz OLED display.
- 12 GB of RAM and Google's AI features (Gemini).
- 7 years of updates promised by Google from launch.
- IP68 and clean Android.
The differences that matter
Cameras: 5x zoom vs a 48 MP ultra wide
The Pixel 10 adds a 10.8 MP 5x telephoto: gigs, landmarks or kids playing far away. In exchange, its ultra wide drops to 13 MP (the Pixel 9's is 48 MP) and its main camera is 48 MP versus 50 MP on the 9. If you rarely zoom, the Pixel 9 still takes excellent photos.
Chip: Tensor G5 vs Tensor G4
The Pixel 10's Tensor G5 is Google's first chip built on 3 nm. It's a little more efficient, though Tensor chips still lag behind Apple and Qualcomm in demanding games. Day to day, both feel smooth.
Magnetic charging
The Pixel 10 adds magnetic Qi2 charging (Pixelsnap): accessories snap on, like an iPhone's MagSafe.

Our verdict
- If you shoot from a distance or want the latest: Pixel 10.
- If you want to save and don't need zoom: a refurbished Pixel 9. Still one of the best Android cameras.
